Student Business Specialist

The Operations team in IT Applications is looking for a student with a technical background to help the team document systems, analyze data, build our application and system knowledge base and generally support our team’s work. Because of the complexity and number of systems involved, the candidate for this position will need to combine their technical skills with creativity and curiosity to be successful.

The IT Applications Operations team provides operational support to enterprise systems and applications across campus. This position will enable the successful candidate to gain an understanding of the application infrastructure that supports the university and participate in improving this infrastructure.

Under the direction of the team’s manager, this candidate will iterate through a variety of methods of documenting sections of our ERP system to determine the most effective method to meet the team’s goals, investigate the data in our job submission database to look for more efficiencies and performance improvements, provide documentation support in building the team’s knowledge base and support the team as opportunities arise.

These activities are key to IT Application’s organizational strategy and the candidate will be an important member of the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience using creativity to iterate through a variety of possibilities and experience leveraging curiosity to explore challenges from different perspectives.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

As demonstrated by supporting documentation (cover letter, resume, portfolio, etc.):
1. Experience with Oracle databases and PL/SQL

  1. Demonstrated experience using creativity and curiosity to iterate through a variety of possibilities until the best solution is found

  2. Excellent team work, and interpersonal and organizational skills

  3. Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and unrelenting determination

  4. Strong communication skills between both technical users and functional end users and excellent writing skills to ensure documentation is concise and clear

  5. Demonstrated experience with taxonomies and knowledge systems

  6. Experience using Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel and Visio

  7. Ability to quickly adapt to changes in priorities, assignments, and duties

Pay rate $15 to $17 per hour DOE
20 to 30 hours per week
