Graduate Community Mentoring
Graduate Community Mentoring (GCM), a program of Graduate Studies, presents the 2025-2026 Mentorship Conversations & Stories Series. This community-oriented initiative is designed to support graduate students and faculty in building strong mentoring relationships, navigating academia, and fostering professional growth.
Each semester, in collaboration with various faculty from across campus, we will host a series of four story-centered mentorship conversations. The first session will focus on: "Navigating the Unwritten Rules of Academia & Planning for a Year of Well-Being." In addition to providing rich mentorship-based conversations, GCM will highlight resources from within campus and beyond to assist graduate students in learning and accessing support opportunities.
The opening mentorship conversation and storytelling session will kick off on Friday, September 26th, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m in the Student Union Building (SUB), room Acoma A & B, with lunch provided. However, a mandatory orientation for applicants will be held on Friday, September 12th; more details will follow.
The first event will take place in the SUB on September 26. The other sessions will be held on October 24, November 7, and December 5 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Topics will focus on graduate student success through learning from faculty members' lived experiences.
While each event will be open to all graduate students, priority will be given to students who agree to become GCM Student Fellows and participate in at least three of the four sessions provided each semester. These students will earn $100 scholarship for each session attended (up to $300 total). Sign up to be a GCM Student Fellow through this form. Student application link: gcminterest - Formstack
Please note: NSF students are not eligible for the GCM Scholarship above.
Hope to see you there! There will be food provided at all events.
