Study and Live in the Land of Enchantment

UNM is located in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico, which sits at an elevation of 5,312 feet on the traditional homelands of the Pueblo of Sandia. Nestled between desert and mountain, with the Rio Grande flowing north to south and Route 66 running east and west, Albuquerque has it all: natural beauty, a warm and sunny climate, low cost of living, unique cuisine, and distinctive cultural traditions. Discover why Lobos love calling Albuquerque home.

The state of New Mexico, often called the Land of Enchantment, offers Lobos further opportunities for exploring, engaging, and giving back. Some find refuge in its breathtaking deserts, caverns, mountains, and one-of-a-kind natural wonders.

Others dig into the layered histories of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands and the art and traditions they have generated. Lobos develop a deep appreciation for the original peoples of New Mexico—Pueblo, Navajo, and Apache Tribes—who remain stewards of this land. And many of our students stay connected to local and regional communities within New Mexico long after they have graduated.
