Application Instructions
The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Anesthesia graduate program (via CASAA) at the University of New Mexico. Although Graduate Studies strives to keep this information up-to-date, we still encourage you to visit the program's website to verify application instructions and required materials.
International students (including non-U.S. citizens on a visa) generally must complete additional steps to apply to a graduate program at UNM. Please see the Global Education Office's International Admissions website for more information.

Fall Admission | December 17, 2024 Applications are now open for the August 2025 class! Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through December 17, 2024 and selected applicants will be contacted for interviews to be conducted via Zoom. |

Educational Background | Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 grading scale of the last 60 credits hours and a pre-requisite minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 grading scale.

Test Scores | MCAT or GRE score attained within three years of applying to the program

Personal Statement | Applicants are required to submit a personal statement. This document should focus on explaining your motivation for selecting a career in healthcare and, specifically, why you're interested in becoming a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant. |

Pre-requisite Coursework | Completion of the most advanced pre-requisite coursework in each subject area must have been completed within seven years of application date; Biochemistry and Human Anatomy & Physiology must be completed within five years of the application date. By December 2024, applicants must have no more than three outstanding courses.

Recommendations | Three (3) letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to the applicant’s ability and personal character as they relate to the pursuit of graduate study and a career as an anesthesiologist assistant.
