Application Instructions
The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Art Studio graduate program at the University of New Mexico. Although Graduate Studies strives to keep this information up-to-date, we still encourage you to visit the program's website to verify application instructions and required materials.

Program of Interest | Select: College of Fine Arts > Department of Art > Art Studio > Your application will be reviewed primarily based on your first selected area of interest. After the first area review, it may be reviewed by the secondary area of interest. |
Letter of Intent | Required. A letter to the studio faculty, 1-3 pages, including a brief introduction of yourself, a clear statement of the goals or objectives that you wish to accomplish in your graduate study, a brief statement about why you want to study at UNM, and anything significant you think we should know about you. Please see the program's guidelines. |
Writing Sample | Artist statement, no longer than one page. This should be a clear, concise statement of your artistic practice, including your intent, conceptual framework, methods, and/or materials. Please see the program's guidelines. |
CV/Resume | Required. No special instructions. |
Special Requirements | Digital portfolio of 15-20 images of your best work. Upload a single high resolution PDF containing the full set of your images. Include the title, dimensions, date, and medium below each image. |
Video/Audio Link | Optional. Provide links to any videos that are part of your portfolio. Please ensure all links are functional before submitting your application. Please use Youtube or Vimeo for video hosting. |
Assistantship Interest | Optional. If you would like the opportunity to apply for an assistantship if you are admitted, please include a brief, one paragraph statement of financial need, and indicate whether teaching is a career goal for you. Additionally, please indicate:
