Application Instructions
The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Biomedical Sciences graduate program at the University of New Mexico. Although Graduate Studies strives to keep this information up-to-date, we still encourage you to visit the program's website to verify application instructions and required materials.
International students (including non-U.S. citizens on a visa) generally must complete additional steps to apply to a graduate program at UNM. Please see the Global Education Office's International Admissions website for more information.

Program of Interest | Select: Health Sciences Center > Biomedical Sciences > Biomedical Sciences. Select your areas of interest. If you are interested in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Toxicology, DO NOT apply for admission to the College of Pharmacy. |
Educational Background | Transcripts from all universities and colleges attended are required. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted for evaluation purposes; however, official transcripts are required upon admission. Please send them to: UNM Admissions PO Box 4895 Albuquerque, NM 87196-4895. International students should send transcripts to the Office of International Admissions. |
Test Scores | GRE scores are optional and should only be submitted if they strengthen your application package. International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency; please see the "Step Two" and "Requirements" sections of the BSGP Application Information page. |
Letter of Intent | Required. Please include your intended degree, areas of research interest, previous laboratory experience (if any—not required but highly desirable), and objectives in undertaking Biomedical Studies. Please also answer the following questions:

CV/Resume | Required. Include academic and/or scientific awards and publications (if any) in addition to relevant work history. |
Relevant Coursework | Only list courses beyond the competency supplement ("B" or higher). |
Special Requirements | You are required to upload two documents on the special requirements page.

Recommendations | Three (3) letters of recommendation are required. Your references should be either recent research mentors or faculty members at institutions of higher learning. They should be able to comment on your current ability to perform academically at the graduate level and/or comment on your recent research experience. Let your references know that they will receive an email from UNM Grad App with an upload link for your “Letter of Recommendation” and the deadline you are trying to meet. |
