The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Computer Science graduate program at the University of New Mexico. Although Graduate Studies strives to keep this information up-to-date, we still encourage you to visit the program's website to verify application instructions and required materials.
International students generally must complete additional steps to apply to a graduate program at UNM. Please see the Global Education Office's International Admissions website for more information.

Educational Background | If the applicant uploads their transcript to the graduate online application only one official transcript needs to be sent to the Computer Science department (mailing address listed at bottom of Computer Science website). |
Program of Interest | Select: School of Engineering > Computer Science. Select up to three faculty members you would like to work with. |
Test Scores | GRE scores are required. |
Letter of Intent | A letter of intent stating your reasons for pursuing a graduate degree, your research interests, your career objectives, general information on your technical and scientific experience, as well as a detailed explanation of special circumstances which might affect your admission. The letter of intent should state whether you desire financial aid in the form of a research or teaching assistantship. |
CV/Resume | Required. No special instructions. |
Assistantships | Required. No special instructions. |
Recommendations | Three (3) letters of reference are required, uploaded to the admission form or sent to the Department of Computer Science using the form available on their website. These letters should be professional (as opposed to personal or character) references, such as from colleagues, supervisors, or former instructors. |
