The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) graduate program at the University of New Mexico. Educational Background | Applicants should submit unofficial transcripts from each university attended, and must submit official transcripts from the institution from which the entry level occupational therapy degree was obtained. A baccalaureate or master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) accredited or WFOT (World Federation of Occupational Therapy) approved program is required. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required for all applicants with master’s degrees. Applicants with bachelor degrees in occupational therapy must have a 3.0 GPA in the last 50 credits for the bachelor degree in occupational therapy. |
Test Scores | Non-native English speakers must submit TOEFL scores. |
Letter of Intent | Required. This is an opportunity to communicate professional goals, personal accomplishments and academic motivation. |
Resume/CV | Required. Please submit a resume or CV which reflects your job experience, publications, community service and outstanding accomplishments. |
Additional Requirements | Proof of initial NBCOT certification is required for graduates from institutions within the United States. Proof of state licensure is required if you are a resident of a state requiring licensure to practice. |
Recommendations | Three letters of recommendation from individuals who are knowledgeable of your academic and/or professional accomplishments are required. |
