Application Instructions
The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Physician Assistant (PA) graduate program at the University of New Mexico. Although Graduate Studies strives to keep this information up-to-date, we still encourage you to visit the program's website to verify application deadlines, instructions, and required materials.
International students (including non-U.S. citizens on a visa) generally must complete additional steps to apply to a graduate program at UNM. Please see the Global Education Office's International Admissions website for more information.

Summer Admission | August 1st To ensure that your application is verified by the deadline, submit your completed application at least four weeks prior to the deadline. Applicants are encouraged to check the status of their CASPA application on a weekly basis. |

Special Requirements | You must submit your initial application for this program through the Central Application System for Physician Assistants (CASPA). Only those accepted to the program will need to submit the UNM Graduate Studies application, if not currently enrolled in a UNM master’s program. This program's application process also has additional requirements, including testing through Altus Suite and a supplemental application which will be sent via email to selected applicants. Recommendations | Three letters of recommendation are required. Letters of recommendation must be submitted directly to CASPA (do NOT submit through the UNM application). Two letters of recommendation must be from clinical references, preferably from Physician Assistants, Medical Doctors, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, or Nurse Practitioners who can speak to your ability to become a PA. One recommendation may be from a personal reference (not a family member or friend). |
