Application Instructions
The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Public Administration (MPA) graduate program at the University of New Mexico. Although Graduate Studies strives to keep this information up-to-date, we still encourage you to visit the program's website to verify application deadlines, instructions, and required materials.
International students (including non-U.S. citizens on a visa) generally must complete additional steps to apply to a graduate program at UNM and demonstrate English proficiency. Please see the Global Education Office's International Admissions website for more information.

This program does not have set deadlines for domestic applicants but instead follows a rolling admissions policy. Domestic students may apply at any time; the admissions committee meets regularly to review applications. | |
Fall Admission | Best consideration for scholarships, federal financial aid, and graduate assistantships: Submit application between January 1st - April 1st International applicants must submit their completed application no later than April 1st. |
Spring Admission | Best consideration for scholarships, federal financial aid, and graduate assistantships: Submit application between August 1st - October 1st International applicants must submit their completed application no later than September 1st. |

Educational Background | Upload unofficial transcripts from each academic institution you have attended. Official transcripts must be sent to the Office of Admissions. You do not need official transcripts for coursework taken at UNM. |

Letter of Intent | A 2-3 page letter of intent is required. |
CV/Resume | A current resume is required. |
Assistantship Interest | There are a limited number of Graduate Assistantships available at the School of Public Administration. A Graduate Assistantship is a financial award to a graduate student for part-time work while pursuing study toward an advanced degree. See the Graduate Assistant Guidelines for more information. Applications are accepted for the Fall semester and for the Spring semester. SPA does not offer assistantships for the Summer term. |
Recommendations | Three letters of recommendation are required. |
