NEW: 2026-27 Recruitment Ambassadors program

Graduate Studies invites applications from continuing graduate and professional students for the 2026-27 Recruitment Ambassadors program. This new program provides unique professional development by familiarizing participants with best practices and innovations in graduate recruitment, and by providing opportunities to apply their learning through recruitment activities. Ambassadors will engage with all levels of higher education—undergraduates, prospective and current graduate students, faculty, staff, and administration—thus gaining valuable experience that will enhance their future careers in and beyond academia.

Program expectations include attending an orientation and monthly learning sessions, holding regular office hours, developing relationships with undergraduate and graduate program leaders, preparing and delivering recruitment presentations on campus and virtually, and planning and attending recruitment events. The estimated time commitment is an average of 5 hours per week. Participants will receive a stipend of $5,000.

In order to qualify, you must be a continuing master’s or doctoral student in good standing who will be enrolled full-time during the 2026-27 academic year and have the ability to schedule in-person meetings during business hours starting the week of August 10, 2026. Successful applicants will demonstrate evidence of leadership, willingness to collaborate, strong interpersonal skills, strong written and spoken communication, familiarity with UNM and graduate student life, and previous experience with or a commitment to learning about higher-ed recruitment. Please apply on InfoReady by Friday, April 17 by submitting a cv and 2-pg. letter that discusses your interest in the program, any relevant previous experience, and how serving as an Ambassador will support your future academic and career goals.
