Application Instructions
The following information is provided to help the prospective student successfully apply for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Special Education PreK-12 Teacher Licensure (GCERT-SPCD) at the University of New Mexico. Please note: These instructions are for application the MA only; PhD applications instructions are available here.

| How do I apply? | Go to http://www.unm.edu/apply/ to complete the online Graduate Application. There is a non-refundable application fee (paid with credit card online as part of your Graduate Application). Create an account. Follow the Submission Instructions below and submit your online application. Every degree or certificate program needs a separate application. Even if you are a current student, this step still needs to be completed for the GCERT-SPCD. |
| Educational Background | Submit one unofficial transcript from each college you have attended. (Exception: UNM transcripts) Official transcripts must be sent to Office of Admissions. A minimum G.P.A. of 3.2 overall or a minimum GPA of 3.2 for the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work. |
| Letter of Intent | One-page letter of intent, a one-page statement about your interest in becoming a special education teacher and professional goals. |
| CV/Resume | Optional. |
| Licensure | Graduate Certificate in Special Education PK-12 Teacher Licensure. Please upload completed form in the Professional Biographical Form section of the Application Fields. |
| Recommendations | Three letters of recommendation are required. The program recommends that at least one letter be from a college instructor, one from an employer, and one from another professional contact. |
