Professional or Returning Student

If it has been awhile since you set foot in a college classroom, UNM has the resources to reacclimate you to university life and support your whole self through the transition to graduate or professional school. Many of our resources and support services offer flexible scheduling, remote capabilities, and extended hours to accommodate your schedule.

UNM and the state of New Mexico are particularly good places to pursue an education while caring for a family. If you are a parent or caregiver, UNM hosts family-oriented activities and events throughout the year, including Homecoming, sporting events, the Hanging of the Greens, and Lobo Day. We also have groups and dedicated spaces devoted to student parents and their children. As of November 2025, New Mexico became the first state in the U.S. to offer no-cost universal childcare, extending access to families regardless of income.
