Clarence & Emily Rogers Research Scholarship
Clarence & Emily Rogers Research Scholarship provides funding up to $1500 to facilitate research directly related to the master's thesis or doctoral dissertation, including artistic projects for the MFA. (This award is not for conference presentations, attendance, etc.) Funds may be used for travel expenses, lodging, and qualifying research materials (such as art or lab supplies, software not already available via UNM, or printing or digitizing costs) directly relevant to advancing the research project. If you are traveling internationally, you must get approval from the Office of Export Control and submit the form with your application. **Please note Export Control takes at least one week to get reviewed and approved.
Additionally, students traveling internationally will need to register their travel with UNM's Global Education Office. Their form does not have to be turned in when submitting the Rogers application but must be submitted and approved before travel to be eligible.
Eligibility
Eligible students must be in good academic standing and enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application. Students must be registered full-time for Fall and Spring funding, and to be eligible for Summer the student must have been full-time in the Spring. You may receive only one (1) scholarship per academic year. The academic year is Summer through Spring.
No student will be awarded both the Clarence & Emily Rogers Research Scholarship, the Graduate Research Supplement, or the Doctoral Conference Presentation Grant in the same funding semester. The maximum amount of scholarship awarded is $1,500.
Deadline
Applications will be accepted for the Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026 semesters with the following deadlines:
- Summer 2025: April 25, 2025 - June and July
- Fall 2025: September 12, 2025 - August through December
- Spring 2026: February 14, 2026 - January through May
Materials to be included in the application:
- Completed Application form
- Brief description of the proposed project and how the requested funds will be used to contribute to the student's research project and academic progress (~700 words)
- A line item budget. (See UNM Travel Policy).
- A copy of IRB / IACUC approval or submission form, if applicable
- A letter of support from the faculty advisor/committee chair supporting the research

The representative will send confirmation you have completed this step.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY RECEIPTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
If your research requires IRB/IACUC approval, you must obtain approval before submitting your application. You will not receive the award for any expenses incurred before approval is received. If you will not receive IRB/IACUC approval so that your research can begin during the funding period, please let us know so that we can provide funding to another student.
